The Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park was voted BEST sculpture park in the United States.And…it’s just 45 minutes from Chicago and FREE to the public.So take the train or drive, bring walking shoes and a picnic basket. You may never want to leave.
Lynn’s late father-in-law, contemporary art collector and philanthropist, Lewis Manilow, founded the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park. Mr. Manilow envisioned a destination where large scale public art could be enjoyed, for FREE, by everyone of all ages and backgrounds. And, over 50 years later, Lewis Manilow certainly succeeded in honoring that vision.
The Nate, as it’s fondly referred to, is a sprawling "museum-in-the-praire" featuring large scale master sculptures situated within 100 + acres of prairie landscape on the campus of Governors State University. Whether you choose to visit the Nate in the Fall with the changing leaves surrounding you or even the Winter where you might catch snow gently falling on the more than 30 pubic sculptures, you are sure to enjoy your experience in any Season.
The Nate features such masters as Bruce Nauman, Mark di Suvero, John Henry, Martin Puryear, Tony Tasset, Terry Karpowicz and so many more!
